Falmouth is famously an ‘event driven town’. It is not only the beautiful countryside and coastal scenery, the sea and boats, and the glorious summer weather that attracts people to Falmouth: it is also the incredible programme of events that take place throughout the year.

Here is our highly personal selection from what is on offer in fantastic Falmouth in 2018.

Cornwall Harp & Gurdy Festival (18th  –  20th  May)
Characterful music in various venues played by the very best.

Falmouth Street Food & Craft Ales Festival (25th  –  28th  May)
Takes place alongside the Fal River Festival with 150 events between 25th May and 3rd  June. Celebrating the river – the heart of the town.

Suhaili Falmouth 50 Parade of Sail (14th June)
Celebrating Sir Robin Knox-Johnston’s tremendous achievement to be the first winner of the Golden Globe Race.

Falmouth international Sea Shanty Festival (22nd –  24th June)
Perhaps my favourite event of the year, when every space seems filled with shanty-men and women from home and abroad singing their hearts out.

ZestiFAL (27th –  29th July)
Everyone going activity mad. Time to try something new?

Falmouth Week (10th–  19th August)
One of the most prominent sailing regattas in the South West. Eight days of sailboat racing of all sorts and many shore-side activities. The world famous Red Arrows will appear above your heads at some stage during the week on Falmouth Fun Day.

Falmouth Marching Carnival led by the Falmouth Marine Band (11th Aug)
Who doesn’t love a parade? The streets are packed and the procession is always fun.

80s/90s Night & Fireworks (17th Aug)
Party time on Events Square with fireworks. Super nostalgic music and the sky full of pretty lights.

Falmouth Beer Festival (4th–  6th Oct)
Don’t miss this. A pint of Cornwall Pride and a party in the ‘Front – my favourite pub. Life doesn’t get much better.

Falmouth Oyster Festival (11th – Sun 14th).
Oysters may be an acquired taste but the Falmouth Working Boats catch them and we eat them – proper job!

It’s looking like another fun-filled year in Falmouth so come and stay at The Captain’s House where you are walking distance from everything.
